Stacey & Nathan - December 13, 2008

Stacey McVay and Nathan Gladson were married on December 13, 2008 at Cofer's Chappel on Franklin Road. I photographed this wedding with a team of photographers. Two of the four perspectives have already been uploaded to the client proofing site. Check out more of their photos at www.mattandrews.printroom.com/McVayGladson.

Enjoy!

Shane and Esmeralda Enagagement Portraits

I met Shane and Esmeralda at the Opryland Hotel the weekend after Thanksgiving. We must have hiked a few miles within the hotel; grabbing photos and checking out the Christmas decorations. We had a great time and got some great photos in the process. They will be married May 30, 2009 at Belmont Mansion before going on a honeymoon in Italy.

Frist Center Photos

My wife is the Volunteer Manager for the Frist Center for the Visual Arts and so today when I was asked to swing by and do some photography for them, I decided to volunteer my time. This way I don't have to feel like I'm crashing the Volunteer Party each year!!! I'm still having a lot of fun playing with my new PhotoShop process so I'm uploading HDR photos, though these images don't reflect the majority of my work.

The Hodges Brothers - Photoshop Experiments

This weekend, I photographed 3 brothers who were interested in giving their parents some photos for Christmas. We decided to meet up downtown despite the ominous sky. It was cold and windy but the bottom never fell out and the clouds helped with the photos. I am attaching a few shots in which I have been testing out a Photoshop Process that I've been interested in learning for a while now. It gets you this nearly animated Norman Rockwellish or Lord of the Ringsish look. I imagine it will be popular with musicians since it looks sort of unnatural.... I think it looks cool but you be the judge.

Jason & Erin - Nov. 8th Wedding at Cedarvine Manor

I arrived at Cedarvine at 10:00am to catch some photos of the set-up for Jason & Erin's November 8th Wedding. I was surprised to find, not only Jason and Erin, but the whole wedding party and both sets of parents pitching in to set-up and decorate. Not only was it a fun morning, but they made the place beautiful in record time. They hung linens, set up the altar, and there must have been 30 pumpkins carved with everything from hearts, to the the bride and grooms initials for centerpieces and just to hold flowers. They did a great job. Also, it didn't hurt that they picked the perfect day for a fall themed wedding because the leaves peaked this weekend and Saturday may have been our last warm day for some time.

I already have their photos touched-up and should have them uploaded to the proofing site in the next couple of days. Be sure to check out the groomsman cake and the pre-ceremony bridal portraits! Also, I attached a photo of the groomsman walking away from some smokebombs that I set off!

Enjoy!

Alanna Morgan - 3 months

This morning, I photographed Alanna's 3 month portraits. Her parents are friends and former wedding clients of mine.

In my opinion, 3 months are usually the hardest age, but Alanna was a great baby model. With infants, you can shoot the parts photos and with 6 month olds, they can sit up so you can sit them in flowers and their hands are free to reach and play and it just gets easier the older they get, but 3 month olds are usually pretty tough to shoot because the laying on their backs on a Boppy photos usually aren't the most flattering and sometimes they aren't strong enough to lift their heads for more than a few seconds if they are on their belly. Alanna was a strong, strong 3 month old though.

Eaton Morgan - 1 Year

These are shots of Eaton Morgan who will turn 1 year old on Tuesday (Election Day) November, 4th. We were working without a nap or lunch so we may do a make-up appointment in hopes of getting more smiles. He sure is a cute kid!

Nathan and Stacey - Engagement

Nathan & Stacey will be married on December 13th at Coffer's Chapel on Franklin Road. We had originally planned to shoot their engagement photos at Radner Lake but it was so crazy busy and hard to find parking that we decided to drive over to the zoo where I could take advantage of my new membership! It was Nathan's first trip to the zoo so I had fun showing them around and letting them know which were my favorite animals (gibbons and lemurs)! We got some great photos and some good exercise in the meantime.

Becca & Ryan - Engagement Session

Ryan proposed to Becca at the downtown Nashville Public Library so we thought that would be a great place to start for their engagement portrait session. From the library, we went to the War Memorial Plaza, then the State Capitol, then we continued with some casual shots around Broadway. You should be able to tell from the photos but we had fun today!

Ryan & Becca will be married on June 6th, 2009 in Nashville.

Jason & Erin -Engagement Portraits

Jason and Erin will be married at Cedarvine Manor on November 8th, 2008. We decided to shoot their engagement portrait session at the Nashville Zoo and downtown.

Tarrah & Austin - Oct 4, 2008

I got together with Tarrah & Austin nearly a month ago to make sure that we could take our time getting plenty of shots at several locations. I have another blog entry devoted to it at the following link. Pre Portraits

Their wedding took place on Saturday, October 4th at Harpeth Heights Baptist Church. It was a beautiful ceremony. I shoot a lot of weddings and sure, there are some songs you hear a lot and some traditions that almost everyone does, but I'm always impressed to see uniqueness at weddings and Tarrah and Austin's wedding did not disappoint. Both sets of parents stood up during the ceremony to give their blessing and welcome their new son and daughter into the family. Also, you have to check out the groomsman cake. It has to be my all-time favorite and I've seen some pretty great ones from Nealand Stadium to Dirtbike tracks. Austin is into video production so his cake looks like an old reel-to-reel movie camera!

The bride and groom were very photogenic and since the newlyweds are currently honeymooning in Paris... I would imagine that the great photos will just keep rolling in.

I hope everyone enjoys the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Stay tuned in to the proofing site because Twila Allen's 2nd Perspective shots should be uploaded within the next week.
