5 Years and many terrible sweater's ago, I set up a photobooth at the first Terrible Christmas Sweater Party. It was big then, but now 750 to 1,000 people show up at two different bars sporting the outfits that take up space in the closet for 364 days/year... until next year's party. The plan was to use a clean background, backlight, and lots of wind (courtesy of a $49 rechargeable leaf-blower) to get shots that look like a fashion shoot with one difference... the clothing.

Kendall Brown Portraits
Jill Berry's Bridal Portraits
I got together with Jill for bridal portraits over a month ago and I've been dying to show them off but couldn't blog about it or post any of the images until Ross saw her in the dress for the first time at the wedding today. So here are a few from our shoot a few months back.
Monte 6 mo.
Monte is the son of one of my best friends from my Father Ryan High School days. I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Karen and meeting her husband Jason. As you can see they have a very photogenic baby. It was a pleasure to shoot with them!
Sam - 6 mo.
Sam is the son of a couple whose wedding I photographed just a couple years ago. It was great getting a chance to catch up and see how well they are doing! I love the above shot with the vintage toy. I think I had the same one when I was a kid!

Jason & Jessica Engagement
I met Jason & Jessica at the Nashville Zoo for a set of engagement photos on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It was a fun shoot! I tried a shot of a couple on a carousel once before but I'm happier with the way this one came out. I think they were laughing at how hard it was to kiss a moving target like that. I'm looking forward to photographing their wedding next summer at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville.
Matt & Laurel - Halloween Wedding
This was such a great bunch of people. I really loved shooting this wedding. Their nods to autumn were perfect. The wedding had character and thats all there is to it. The groom just sent me a link to this video/slideshow so I thought I'd post it here in the body in case you are interested in seeing more.

James and Ashley - Cheekwood Wedding
James and Ashley were married on October 10, 2009 at Cheekwood and wow, did we ever get some awesome photos! The weather was perfectly overcast but not a drop fell from the sky! I love shooting in this type of even light and I love to use my strobes to underexpose the background and make the clouds look stormy even more!! The wedding party was a blast. The guys were from Georgia and as far as I could tell were one of those groups of best friends that have been best friends for years and years and when they get together they pick up right where they left off. Everyone was excited about an upcoming Widespread Panic show and the groom's cake actually looked like Widespread album art! The bride is an amazing singer and had made a recording with the wedding guitarist earlier that week which was played at the ceremony and reception. It was lovely!

Matt and Regina - Engagement Portraits
Matt and Regina will be married in Franklin, TN on April 17, 2010. We shot about 75% of their images in downtown Nashville and then treked to North Nashville where we found an abandoned old truck and a red barn. We had a great time and it wasn't very hard to get Matt to look happy b/c he had just found out that he passed the Tennessee Bar Exam! Congratulations!
Adam and Ashley - Sunday Wedding
Adam and Ashley were married Sunday, October 4th at Cedarvine Manor in Lebanon, TN. I know that Ashley was very disappointed that it was a rainy day and they had to move her ceremony indoors, but the staff at Cedarvine made the ceremony beautiful. I don't know how they managed to do it in such a short period of time before guests began arriving but they must have carried 75 extra chairs up from the planned sight, wiped the rain off of them, then lit about 100 candles to make the place look beautiful. It was great! Also, this was a fun group of people. There was no way they were going to let the rain get them down. I think every guest at this wedding was on the dance floor all at once.... including the Chick-Filet Dairy Cow Mascot!
